I Cut My Locs! | YouTube

BAld&Bougietnfin.jpg

Hey Folx!

In this week’s video, I’m talking about why I cut my locs and I show myself actually cutting them in the process! It’s so cathartic to cut your hair and I can say that confidently after 50-11 big chops lol. Is this my official black auntie cut or will I ever grow my hair out again? Watch and see!

My One-Year Anniversary of Braidlocs!

OneYearLociversary.png

I made it y'all! On August 8, 2018, I celebrated my one-year lociversary. The year really flew by and save for a few issues, I'm really happy I decided to commit to locing my hair. This has probably been the easiest hair maintenance year of my life since I started doing my own hair in the fourth grade.

I did a seven-month update back in February and not much has changed since then. I've gotten a little more length (I can now put my hair into a solid ponytail!) and keeping aware of lint and perimeter build up. I've simplified my routine further, by not using any oils. I simply wash once a week and spritz my hair daily with water that has a few drops of essentials oils. I've also noticed that the braid pattern on some of my locs in the kitchen area (the nape of the neck) is starting to disappear!

I'm looking forward to year two! Watch my update below for more details and to see the park where I take my daily walks.

Minimalist Beauty: Braidlocs

My braidlocs are a little over a week old above. August 2017.

My braidlocs are a little over a week old above. August 2017.

Welcome to the next chapter in my minimalist beauty and natural hair journey: braidlocs. Besides when I was bald, this is the simplest my hair has ever been and I love it!

I tried to grow locs with finger coils once before back in 2015, but I wasn't ready at the time. I wasn't ready mentally or emotionally to go through the "ugly" stage of the locing process. Two and a half years later, and now 7 months into this journey, I'm ready!

Almost 6 months. January 2018.

Almost 6 months. January 2018.

Starting my locs has been one of the most fulfilling things I've done on my minimalist transition. My locs are apart of a self-acceptance journey that I'm on and I talk more about it in the video below. Additionally, not having to think about my hair or spend hours maintaining it, is so freeing, which is the purpose of my minimalist journey.

In the video, I share about my braidloc experience while doing the Starter Loc Tag. Enjoy!
